Ágata Silván
I come from Spain and I studied my bachelor in Biology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and a further Msc in Neuroscience at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). I am particularly interested in studying the function of E/I balance and how this is disrupted in neuropsychiatric diseases. Understanding the implication of both excitatory and inhibitory systems in cortical and subcortical microcircuits could help us to unravel the mechanisms that underlie higher brain cognitive functions. Restoring this balance might constitute a promising therapeutic strategy against disorders such as schizophrenia.
